Pankaj Shah is an entrepreneur focused on the integration of capitalism and philanthropy. Shah's current endeavor, Tonic, is a platform for brands to engage consumers around positive action. According to The Financial Times, through Tonic, Shah is "inventing a new lexicon that combines business school-speak and Mother Teresa-speak." Tonic has been at the forefront of inspiring and empowering people to do good since 2009 and has partnered with a number of celebrities including Ashley Greene, Christy Turlington, Common, Eliza Dushku, Jenny McCarthy and Nick Cannon, to raise awareness and capital for a wide variety of issues, ranging from maternal health to autism to hunger. This combination of Silicon Valley, Hollywood and Madison Avenue has led to Tonic's work being featured on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" nine times since March, 2010. Tonic has empowered its community to make a difference by focusing their attention on "deeds" such as raising a scholarship fund for a gay teen denied attendance to her own prom; sending a personalized e-postcard to U.S. soldiers stationed in Libya; assisting a children's amputee organization obtain funding for thirty-six kids to attend summer camp; sharing an inspirational message with an orphan in America; and helping save the lives of ten abused dogs that were about to be euthanized. Prior to founding Tonic, Shah started 4INFO, the largest independent mobile media company in 2004 and MetroFi, a pioneer in the municipal Wi-Fi market, in 2002. Shah's businesses have been featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," CNN, "CBS Sunday Morning," "The Today Show" and Fox News Channel, as well as in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, and The Financial Times to name a few.
