Better make sure your husband/kids/dog/sneaky neighbor haven't broken into your stash of Halloween candy for the trick-or-treaters. The big night is only a mere few days away and we all know that if you buy the goods early, sometimes, by the time October 31st rolls away, the bag is wanting by a few mini-Mounds or so.

Then you have to secure all pieces and parts that might be needed for junior's or little miss's costume. What, with all that, plus rehearsing the safety rules again and again: "no eating any candy until you get home" (remember the razor blades in candy bars scare of the 80s?!), there's always the chance that on the special spooky night, it will rain. Heavily. Or, it'll be way too freezing to take your kids out. Or, they'll all be sick.

What's an equipped parent to do?

Say "boo" and then pop in one of these super Halloween movies for the tykes while you take that much-needed rest with a glass of wine (or two) and a mini-Reese's cup (or two). While we would argue that the classic, "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" should totally rate higher, here's what BettyConfidential gives as their Top 10:

  1. Nightmare Before Christmas
  2. Gremlins
  3. Monsters, Inc.
  4. The Lost Boys (for your older kids, natch)
  5. The Goonies
  6. Beetlejuice
  7. Something Wicked This Way Comes
  8. Monster House
  9. The Corpse Bride
  10. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
