Bark and Run: Get Fit with Fido
Get Fit with Fido is an organization in Seattle, WA that combines volunteerism with exercise. But here's the greatest part of it: cute dogs!
Our furry friends who are unfortunately in shelters need some fresh air and sunshine just like we do, so what better way to get yourself moving, while you give companionship to a pooch than by volunteering to walk or run them?
An extra bonus is that dogs that are out are more visible to people who just may want to adopt them. Or, if you live in a small apartment, are allergic to animals, or live (in a small apartment) with someone who is allergic, this is a win-win situation: you get to hang with cute dogs and they get a break from the none-too-cozy shelter life.
Don't worry if you don't live in Seattle. You can call up your local shelter and ask if they would be interested in a similar program, or offer your volunteer services.
