Burt's Bees: 25 Years of Greater Good
One thing that you’re bound to find at the bottom of my purse, on my desk, on my nightstand (basically anywhere within an arm’s reach at any given time) is a tube of Burt’s Bees Lip Balm. I can’t get enough of the smooth, peppermint stuff.
In celebration of the company's 25th anniversary, Burt’s Bees is giving away 1,000 tubes of the minty goodness every day from now until June 20. The giveaway is part of the company’s celebration of its 25 Years for the Greater Good promotion.
Anyone who has ever tried Burt’s Bees knows the products are high quality. They just work. And despite the difference in price between the sometimes more expensive Burt’s Bees and generic products, business is booming for the North Carolina company.
"We've never attracted our consumers on price," Peter Alberse, head of Burt's Bees' customer development told the Los Angeles Times. "It's always about what's in the product, and what's not in the product."
Alberse is likely referring to the company’s natural bragging rights — 99 percent of the ingredients that go into Burt’s Bees 150 products are completely natural, meaning there are no harmful additives for customers to worry about.
Burt’s Bees also makes an effort to stay green. The incorporation of energy efficient lighting, water-free urinals, bio-diesel waste conversion, and compost make the Durham factory a leader among corporate do-gooders.
If price is an issue for you (or if you just want your free tube of lip balm), visit the Burt’s Bees website every morning beginning at 9 a.m. EDT. The daily giveaway will occur sometime between 9 a.m. and noon every day (unannounced), so you may need a little luck and some swift fingers to be one of the lucky 1,000. The company is giving away other prizes as well, so check out the website for more info.
