Chef Paula Deen Gets Turkey to the Face
You never know what's going to happen when celebrity chef Paula Deen makes an appearance. The bubbly, Southern mama who turned her culinary skills into a multi-million dollar business, sure knows how to show audiences a good time.
About two years ago, while preparing a recipe on "The Oprah Show," Deen accidentally dropped a small glass bowl into a mixer, only to have it send shards of glass at her and host Oprah Winfrey. The two dodged the worst of it, only to collapse in a fit of hysteria. (Click here to watch a video of the mishap.)
And now, just this week, Deen got a face-full of ham while appearing at a charity event at an Atlanta food bank, Hosea Feed the Hungry. The Food Network star was helping to unload 25,000 pounds of donated meat Monday when someone threw a ham like a football and accidentally whacked her in the nose. (Click here to watch a video of the incident.)
"I thought it busted my lip, but it didn't," Deen tells WGCL-TV, according to the Associated Press.
Deen said she tossed a ham to a man, who then said "Back at 'ya." Thinking he meant it only as a sentiment, she turned around to get another ham when the hunk of meat hit her square in the face.
But as usual, this Southern lady kept her cool, laughing off the incident with her trademark charm.
"I haven't met the ham that could stop me yet!" she tweeted after she recovered from the bruiser.
