Celebrities Up the Ante to Save Africa!
Sin City was packed over the weekend with stars, and most were on their best behavior, especially BFFs Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. These two, no stranger to the casino environs (Matt with all the Ocean's Eleven remakes and sequels; Ben, with well, we wont go into that ...), gear up for the Fourth of July festivities by supporting their buddy (and Damon's Ocean's Eleven co-star) Don Cheadle and his organization Ante Up for Africa.
The charity poker tournament went down last Thursday at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. It was just one of the pre-parties for the World Series of Poker event, drawing the likes of Sarah Silverman, Charles Barkley and Seinfeld star Jason Alexander to benefit humanitarian efforts in Darfur. The organization hoped to top last year's take of $2 million.
Besides the A-list presence, there were over 138 players and some actual poker pros including Rafe Furst and Phil Gordon. While heartthrobs Damon and Affleck did their best with encouragement from Ante Up chair, poker champion and Celebrity Apprentice runner-up Annie Duke, but it was champ Alex "Diesel" Bolotin who donated half of his $176,000 winnings to the ENOUGH Project and International Rescue Committee, programs designed to end genocide and war crimes.
