Equal Rights — the Ultimate Fashion Statement
As I eagerly monitor my savings account for my next Marc Jacobs purchase, the designer — who is fearless and never one to mince words when it comes to his fashion or lifestyle — has taken to his art to promote equal rights for homosexuals by designing special tees available at his MARC by Marc Jacobs stores.
Both designs feature the phrase, "I pay my taxes, I want my rights." The first shirt features a dollar sign and the American flag. The second shirt features a lesbian couple and their child.
Both shirts are $24. Plus tax where applicable.
If you're not gay and want to support the movement, head to American Apparel for their "Legalize Gay" shirts (as seen recently on Kathy Griffin's show). A Washington, D.C., store with a "Legalize Gay" display in the window was recently vandalized, so they need all the support they can get! You can actually get a free "Legalize Gay" shirt with a purchase of $50 or more at American Apparel through the end of July (visit the website to print your coupon).
