Eva Longoria Parker Jet Skis for Charity
Eva Longoria Parker continues her quest to be Hollywood's most well-rounded entertainer as she took to the warm waters of Miami Beach to jet ski for charity. The Desperate Housewives star was recently named the honorary chair of Rally for Kids With Cancer. She participated in the organization's scavenger hunt held on South Beach last week in Miami and even dropped the flag to start the race. Her participation is another extension of her charity work for Padres Contra El Cancer; she's been a national spokesperson for the organization for more than three years.
According to the fundraiser's site, participants make pit stops around Miami as rally drivers and celebrity navigators searched for clues. Teams had to raise a minimum of $25,000 to get a celebrity to help search for clues during the day-long event. As Longoria Parker told the Miami Herald, "'It's devastating when any family has to go through the diagnosis of cancer,' she said. 'But when it's a child, it's even more devastating.'"
Longoria Parker was just one of 21 celebs who participated and she raised nearly $50,000 for the charity. A significant portion of the donation came from a sponsor who paid $30,000 to ride on a jet ski with the philanthropic actress. Money collected from the event go directly to Jackson Memorial Foundation, International Kids Fund and Holtz Children's Hospital, all children's cancer research facilities.
