Facebook Can Help You Carpool, Too!
OK. I am a Facebook addict. While I do visit my home page several times during the day, I get notifications pushed to my Blackberry and sitting as an RSS feed in Firefox. I also get text messages when someone messages me, and I do upload photos and regular status updates.
While I take the train back and forth to work at the moment, I have always been a fan of carpooling. With all of us looking for ways to go green, carpooling is a viable solution to saving time and money on one's commute. Some good news for other Facebook addicts and carpoolers like me. Zimride, an online carpool community, has debuted a new Facebook app to help match carpool drivers and riders. Potential carpoolers will be able to check out what their potential carpool buddies are into, what they look like, and if they are single or in a relationship. Basically, you get to check people out before deciding to ride with them. After all, when you spendĀ 2-3 hours a day with someone in a car, it does make sense to see if you have something in common?
