Look, were not judging you for being a Facebook fan of Flipping the Pillow Over to Get to the Cold Side. Or of Edward Cullen. Or Nutella. (Certainly not Nutella.)

But if you're finding yourself feeling fanatical, want to have an even easier way to keep up with the latest good news, and care about doing something eco-friendly in the process, there's a much more sensible solution.

It's this simple: If you haven't already, be sure to friend us at Facebook and follow us on Twitter at @tonicnews. We will plant a tree for each connection.

Gain a friend, give a seedling a home!

Tonic has partnered with Trees for the Future to help make sure that your support is translated into tangible impact. With the help of our past donations, TFTF has been able to plant thousands of trees in Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia, countries whose natural resources are threatened by overpopulation, deforestazation and poorly strategized agriculture programs.

For example, in Uganda, the government is funding and encouraging the planting of pine trees; unfortunately, the acidity in their needles changes the soil, damaging crop growth. In Kenya, a fight for the preservation and conservation of the Mau Forest is threatening the livelihoods of farmers. Agriculture practices in resource-rich Ethiopia are unintentionally engaging unsustainable methods that then limit the future of plant growth in the region.

Every tree that Tonic and TFTF plants in your honor goes to chip away at these problems, enriching the landscape of the countries, educating and advocating for sustainable practices, and conserving the natural riches that they boast. The organization is linking up with local NGOs on the ground to distribute seedlings, improve irrigation systems, open nurseries, engage unemployed youth in planting efforts and educate farmers and governments on conservation strategies.

So add us, follow us, give a little back to our planet. Besides, we'd be lying if we said we didn't want to be your friend, to boot.
