Girls Aloud for Healthy Breasts
If you're on this side of the Atlantic, you might not know Girls Aloud, but they are a huge pop group over in England. In fact, this five-girl group, which arose out of a 2002 British reality show, is in the Guinness Book as the Most Successful Reality TV Group. Take that Danity Kane!
In recent years, the individual singers branched out in different ways, and for Kimberley Walsh it's involved breast cancer research and support. She helped open a Breast Cancer Haven last year in England, and now she's their ambassador promoting the center's Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities for next month. The British babe will also be part of the center's Sept. 27 High-Heel-A-Thon fundraiser in which men and women compete to finish a 1.2-mile course. The kicker, of course, is that the track must be completed in high heels.
Do they even make high heels in man's size 12? I think I'll need an extra thick heel.
Said Walsh, "I'm proud to help raise the profile of Breast Cancer Haven. I saw how they helped my dear friend and dance teacher Deana Morgan when she had breast cancer and want other people with breast cancer to know they can turn to the Haven for free help and support."
The Breast Cancer Havens -- located in London, Leeds and Hereford -- offer free advice, support and therapies to women in need.
