H&M Fashion With a Passion and a Cause

H&M Fashion Against AIDSSince 1981, AIDS and HIV have been one of the leading causes of death worldwide. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) it’s thought that more than a million individuals are living with the disease and over a half a million have died from it.

To combat these frightening statistics, the worlds of music and fashion are teaming up with H&M and Designers Against Aids to design T-shirts for AIDS and HIV awareness. Celebrities such as N.E.R.D, Katy Perry, Cyndi Lauper and Dita Von Teese are trying to take a stand against the epidemic with custom T-shirt art.

This is the second time Fashion Against Aids has collaborated with H&M to bring the world an inspiring collection of 100 percent organic cotton clothing. Part (25 percent) of the proceeds will be donated to AIDS/HIV prevention projects and the shirts will sell in least 1,000 stores in 30 countries.

This isn’t the first time H&M has worked in partnership with a reputable cause. Since 2002, H&M has been in a long-standing relationship with WaterAid, which is an organization that helps impoverished nations receive clean, healthy water supply. H&M is donating 10 percent of the funds raised by their exclusive swimwear collection for both men and women.

According to H&M.com, WaterAid Director of Fundraising and Communication, Andrew Cook said, “one in eight people in the world do not have access to safe water and every day 4,000 children die from water-related diseases, so this partnership really is vital in helping us to reach out to these people, enabling them to access safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.”
