Lampoon Book Parodies "Twilight"

It's been 40 years since The Harvard Lampoon published one of its infamous parodies (seriously, what were they doing all these years?!).

The last, Bored of the Rings, a satirical novel that poked fun at J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Ringsseries, was published way back in 1969. Now, The Harvard Lampoon is back in action, and its latest project aims right at the hearts -- and funny bones -- of teeny boppers everywhere.

According to an Entertainment Weekly story, The Harvard Lampoon will release Nightlight, a humorous take on Stephenie Meyer's wildly popular vampire series Twilight, on November 3rd. The release comes a couple weeks before the movie New Moon hits theaters.

Even the summary of the book gave us kind of a chuckle. The book centers on Belle Goose (as opposed to Bella Swan), who moves to a new town and meets hottie computer nerd, Edwart Mullen. Even though Mullen has zero interest in girls, after witnessing events she believes to be "otherworldly," Goose convinces herself that Mullen must be a vampire. And don't expect glittering skin and superhuman strength -- Mullen's supernatural feats include not eating his Tater Tots at lunch and saving Goose from a flying snowball.

Sounds like it could be a real side-splitter, although we do forsee a few doe-eyed, Rob Pattinson-loving teens taking offense.
