Place Your Bets on Miami Airport
You're stuck at the airport. Your flight is delayed. You could take a nap. You could browse the magazine rack and get your fourth cup of Starbucks. But these are time-killing activities for the traveler of yesteryear. At Miami International, while you're waiting for your connecting flight, you could be betting on ponies.
That's right. All Things Considered reports that in an effort to generate revenue, city officials want to install slot machines at the airport. Seems easy enough. But a Florida statute specifies that for a venue to offer slots, it must also provide horse-racing. Now, the logistics of building a racetrack might deter some from creating a gambling site, but not in Miami. Authorities are pressing on in an attempt to find a solution to install a track in the parking lot. As if going to the airport wasn't enough of a gamble, now you have to figure out where to place your bets. Is it before or after security?
