June: Not Just for Fathers Anymore
Apparently there are countless things to celebrate in the month of June, least of which would be the ushering in of summer, Gay Pride or Father’s Day. And since I’ve already missed National Doughnut Day (June 5) and National Iced Tea Day (June 10), I couldn’t bear the passing of another moment without the full knowledge of all there is to go nuts over this month. There’s something for everyone, so take your pick:
- According to the Seattle Times, June is National Adopt-a-Cat month. In celebration, The Humane Society will waive adoption fees for the entire month.
- Grab a book and get reading in the … bathroom? Nashua Telegraph reports the kick-off of National Bathroom Reading Week.
- National Celibacy Awareness Month. At least June only has 30 days.
- Meat Eaters will be thrilled to learn that NewsOK.com would love to know your favorite place to “Steak Out” for National Steakhouse Month.
- Vegans rejoice! It’s Dairy Alternative Month, not to be confused with the contending National Dairy Month.
- Why this merriment wouldn’t fall sometime nearer Thanksgiving, it’s hard to say, but no less reason to celebrate June Is Turkey Lovers' Month.
- For all of us still unaware or suffering at the hand of our culture’s cruel demand that we use toilets, Potty Training Awareness Month.
- Technically National Smile Month festivities straddle the months of May and June, but that’s still no reason to frown or neglect your oral health.
- National Accordion Awareness Month, in its 20th year and seemingly a long way to go.
- And for those of you thinking life was perhaps not worth living anymore, take pause: It’s National Rebuild Your Life Month.
