Taking Time Out for Children

Frigidaire is partnering with Jennifer Garner to tell mothers across the country "and everyone who believes in the power of moms" (according to the Make Time for Change Web site) to take advantage of turning back the clock on November 1 by devoting that hour to children. They want everyone to help support Save the Children's CHANGE program, which is "dedicated to providing nutritious snacks and promoting healthier lifestyles for children living in poverty in the United States."

How can you help? By writing on your hand how you're going to spend that hour, have your picture taken holding out your hand, and submit it to the Make Time for Change Web site. For every person that does so, Frigidaire will give a buck to support Save the Children's CHANGE program as part of the company's quarter million dollar commitment to the cause. You'll need to register on the site first.

In addition, the company will donate $100 to Save the Children's national programs for every Frigidaire Professional double wall oven someone buys.

This comes on the heels of a new line of appliances with "time-saving features for busy Moms." I'm doing my best to overlook the assumption that only mothers use appliances (really, Frigidaire?), because getting people to make time for children is certainly a worthy cause.
