Man Candles
First Seinfeld introduced us to the 'manssiere,' the male bra (also known as the ‘bro’). Now, Marketplace reports, a couple of entrepreneurs are taking another particularly feminine product and adapting it for the male consumer. Introducing: the Mandle.
That’s right. Scented candles aren’t just for girls. Mandles manufacturers Jennifer and Mark Catrin are hoping that smells like dirt, rawhide, meat and potatoes, auto shop and burnt gunpowder will appeal to men looking to create a little atmosphere.
Ever since Salon.com coined the term ‘metrosexual,’ marketers worldwide have begun to recognize the huge buying power of men who like to take care of themselves.
So what are the Mandle’s chances of success in that market?
We think maybe if men really want the scent of masculinity emanating from their rooms, they don’t need to spend $15 on it. The smell of sweaty socks from their hamper oughtta do it for free.
