A Million Babies Crawling

Over our country's history, many people have marched on Washington. From the famous 1963 march where Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech, to the Million Man March in 1995, led by Louis Farrakhan, to recent marches that have included the Tea Party Movement and the National Equality March. There was even a march for the nation's morons, although they showed up in Washington State.

No matter how disparate the motivation was for these various marches, they all had one thing in common; almost all the people there could actually march. That's what makes the Million Baby Crawl so different.

Seventh Generation, which is putting the "crawl" together, is asking parents to sign up their babies for this movement to eliminate toxic chemicals from the home. According to the site, "since 1976, the US Environmental Protection Agency has required safety testing on only 200 of the more than 80,000 chemicals in the market," so the maker of natural household products is trying to get stronger chemical laws passed.

So far, nearly 10,000 babies have joined. If you're a baby that's interested, or happen to know one who might be, you can create a crawler on the Million Baby Crawl Web site. You can also search for a crawler by zip code or crawler name, or spread the word, be it via Facebook, Twitter or e-mail. And if you need to get properly motivated, check out these videos that include babies speaking from their soapbox and some participating in the crawl itself.

They're trying to reach 1 million babies, so it's up to you, infants of the United States. If you can crawl, you can log onto the Internet and sign up. Because as the Million Baby Crawl site notes, "We cannot stand, but we stand for something."
