Nude Nature Walk

The best way to experience nature? Why, au naturel, of course. At least that’s what German naturalist Heinz Ludwig had in mind when he led the effort to create an 11-mile nude walking trail.

Reuters reportsthat the trail, to be completed in May 2010, will run along the Harz mountain range in central Germany. Ludwig has encountered some opposition to the trail. But, he counters, there will be plenty of signs warning prudish hikers that if you don’t want to see more than the foliage, you shouldn’t proceed.

More importantly, Ludwig notes that the trail is sure to bring in tourist dollars. “There's already been a lot of interest in it,” he told Reuters.

We’re sure there has been. A local newspaper reported on the trail with an accompanying photo of two naked women hiking in nothing but their backpacks. Internet chat rooms have been a-twitter with anticipation.

So pack a lunch and bring a camera. We expect there’ll be plenty of sight-seeing.
