Shoestring budgets should still be tied up with handsome shoestrings, no?

Until we're all back on the straight and narrow, it makes sense to cut some corners, though. With that in mind, maybe it's time to think like a teenager again. No, not in the Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana way of things (not even for kitsch or irony, mercy), but in a Teen Vogue kind of way. Namely, in their top picks for beauty finds from the drugstore. Remember before you knew that department stores even sold makeup when the closest thing you got to eau du anything was in your bottle of Love's Baby Soft and "exotic" cosmetics meant the Bonne Bell Lip Smacker in "pina colada"?

Let's revisit that time. Why should teenagers get all the (low budget) fun. If it's good for Jessica Biel, Lucy Liu, and Zac Efron (!), it's good enough for us all; these picks were vetted by celebrity makeup artist Brett Freedman. It might be for teens, but it's still Teen Vogue.

Best bargains in a few of the top necessities, for a full look click here:

  • Foundation: Revlon Custom Creations Dial-A-Foundation
  • Lipgloss: Neutrogena's MoistureShine Gloss in Razzle
  • Lip pencil: Rimmel's Lip Pencil in Tiramisu
  • Mascara: Cover Cover Girl Lashblast in Very Black
  • Moisturizer: Olay Oil-free Moisturizer in SPF 15
