william_shatner-jerry_avenaimLeave it to Captain Kirk to go where no man has gone before.

Sarah Palin's farewell speech featured no small amount of venom for the media, so it's ironic that her speech got stung this week by "The Tonight Show." With a humorous lead up by host Conan O'Brien, "Star Trek" original William Shatner had the crowd in stitches as he reinterpreted Palin's resignation speech as beat poetry. The performance, backed by softly playing live musicians, shows that the former governor, if nothing else, could have a future as the head of the conservative beat poets movement.

Enjoy.
