August 28

A photographic mind-teaser for our Smile File readers today.

Dan Dickinson at Flickr took this shot and asked the same question we did: What exactly is this sign trying to say?

"Stop! Fun ahead!" Or, "Stop having fun! I'm an angry red sign. Argh!"

We know the smile won't hit you immediately, but we feel if you spend a moment pondering this crimson shenanigans that you'll crack a grin in the process. We certainly were befuddled. It's kind of like those boat pictures from the mall, only for brainy people. You just keep staring, waiting for it to pop out at you.

And, admit it. It's Friday. In August. It's sticky and hot. If you're the one stuck at the office, you were looking for a place for your mind to wander anyway.

Now stop having fun and get back to work!

Erin Green spends a lot of time scouring vintage record stores for old comedy albums. When she's not riffling through vinyl, she's writing, producing videos, or reminiscing about the BBQ in San Luis Obispo. She is a Senior Editor at Tonic too.
