Swapping: Recession-Friendly Shopping
Is this recession severely affecting the amount of retail therapy you are able to buy each month? Well there’s a frugal solution that may just leave your spirits lighter, your wallet heavier and your friends happier to be around you.
Swapping is the answer to our prayers. Why did no one think of this sooner? It’s the perfect shopping experience — like going to boutique where all the other shoppers are your friends and anything you want to take home is FREE. Yes, free.
The way it works is simple — invite a group of friends over and ask them to bring a few gently used items (clothing, accessories, books, home décor, etc.) with them. Take turns “shopping” and each person can go home with as many items as they brought.
No takers on the seashell lamp circa 1970? No problem. Donate any leftover unwanted items to your local Goodwill and spread the joy further than just your circle of friends.
