The Scoop on Poop
San Antonio, Texas, today announced that it will begin converting human waste to energy, making it the first U.S. city to do so. If you live in San Antonio, I bet you didn't know that you and your neighbors produce about 140,000 tons of "biosolids" which can be reprocessed into methane gas and eventually, natural gas.
I know that I am sitting here chuckling right now, but I have to say that recycling 90 percent of what people flush down their toilets is awesome. Just think — all of this waste will NOT head into the ocean, a river, or other waterway. We are getting there. Imagine New York or Los Angeles doing the same with its waste?! You can read more here.
