Trent Reznor Sings Spock ... Yes, Really

Trent Reznor has just created new music mere weeks after completing his "farewell" tour. Okay, he's not the first to ride slowly into the sunset.

Reznor contributed this music to a network TV show for free. That's surprising from a major artist, but even U2 gave away a song to iTunes promos.

But the man behind "Head Like a Hole" and "Closer" singing television lines from Leonard Nimoy!?! You've got to be kidding.

"I want to [hump] you like an animal" meets "Live long and prosper."

And who's the man who made this happen? Geek god J.J. Abrams. The "Alias" and "Lost" creator called his musical buddy to help with music for his current TV show "Fringe."

According to Entertainment Weekly, Reznor overhauled his "Zero-Sum" track for the show's promotional trailer. How did he change the track? For starters, the NIN mastermind "embedded" one of the show's glyphs into the music, something only seen by viewing the sound waves on a computer. Second, a new whispered vocal track quotes Nimoy lines from his guest appearance in last May's season finale.

That's right, we got Reznor reciting Mr. Spock. What's next, Morrissey singing John Locke island songs? Check out the "Fringe" trailer below if you don't believe me.
