Usher's 'New Look' Steps Up Haiti Relief Efforts for U.N.
Usher's non-profit organization Usher's New Look announced a partnership with the United Nations today and is asking youth around the world to each raise $5 to help the UN's emergency response in Haiti. In a press release, Usher stated that he believes youth have power, and that is why they are the best soldiers for the job. "If only 1% of the world's youth population raised $5 each, we could raise $150 million to support the United Nation's relief efforts," he said.
Usher's New Look launched Power by Service, an initiative that allows young people to use their talents and creativity to raise money from their peers, then donate it to the relief effort in Haiti. This helps to unify youth and empower them to take responsibility for their world.
"Disaster relief is an effort that can be 'Powered By Service' and young people can be key players in the effort," continued Usher. "I'm challenging youth around the world to prove they have the power to have an impact on a humanitarian crisis. I know that young people have the talent, creativity and energy to assist in supporting Haiti's needs."
Young people are encouraged to log onto Facebook and Twitter to share their fundraising efforts and inspire others to do the same.
