The Cool School Where Peace Rules Is Now Online

Johnny whacks Billy at recess. What should Billy do? And how should the kids who witnessed the attack respond? The answer isn't simple. As anyone who's ever been a kid knows, no one likes a tattletale — but then again, no one likes a bully either.

Now, it's possible for kids ages 5 to 7 to actually rehearse difficult situations before they occur, through a new video game called "Cool School: Where Peace Rules." The game was designed by a team including human development specialists, teachers, mediators, computer game designers and animators. Instead of kids, the game uses animated objects to represent bullies and victims.

While playing "Cool School," kids cope with common situations. They're offered multiple-choice options — threatening the peer, telling the teacher, forgetting about it or talking things through. Make the right choice, and you receive a virtual reward. Collect enough rewards and you win the game.

Curious about "Cool School?" Play the game — it's free!
