Lisa Jo Rudy is a veteran freelance writer with credits ranging from books for kids to articles for adults to blogs, podcasts, games, exhibit labels, and more. Online, she's the About.com Guide to Autism and the National Examiner for Autism and Parenting, and she is working on a book (Jessica Kingsley Press, March 2010) entitled "Autism Out of the Box."
Throughout her professional career, Lisa has written and consulted for nonprofit and educational organizations, mainly because she finds it both fascinating and great fun. As a result, she's had the opportunity to create planetarium scripts, interview marine biologists, develop major museum exhibits, and invent hands-on science activities for kids. Over the years, she's invented stream tables, built spy gadgets, and written the stories of amazing undersea discoveries.
Two years ago, Lisa, her husband and her two kids moved from the suburbs to the shores of Cape Cod. There, if she squints, she can see sunsets over Buzzard's Bay from the top windows of her house!
In addition to writing, Lisa and her videographer/photographer husband homeschool their mildly autistic son, Tom. Lisa is also a budding vocalist, and sings with a local chorale. Her ambition is to become good enough to perform Gilbert and Sullivan on the community stage!
