A Free Lunch in NYC? It Really Exists!
New York's Union Square — home of a huge green market and critically-acclaimed restaurants like Danny Meyer's Union Square Cafe — has become a must-see destination for foodie tourists to the Big Apple. And if you go there tomorrow, Friday, you can check all that out ... and get a free sandwich to boot.
Tomorrow's the opening day of the Pret A Manger chain's newest location: a huge space on the corner of 17th and Broadway that will be the company's American flagship. (Conveniently, there's also a massive sporting goods store, Paragon, on the block, in case you want to pick up sneakers to help work off the calories from Pret's irresistible brownies.) To celebrate the launch of this new branch, the Pret folks are doling out 3,000 sandwiches tomorrow at no charge. Simply show up on before work tomorrow morning (starting at 8 a.m.), grab a voucher for a free sammie, then come back at 12:15 and enjoy.
And you really can enjoy your meal, since Pret A Manger uses plenty of organic ingredients and hormone-free meats, 100 percent recycled packaging, and even Ecological Solutions eco-friendly detergent to clean up.
The only downside? Since the Big Apple weather forecast for the next few days is for rain, you'll probably be eating indoors instead of alfresco in Union Square for a Pret A Manger dejeuner au soleil.
