A Good Society Needs Good Denim
There is nothing better than a good pair of worn-in denim jeans. Nothing. Except maybe some damn good chocolate. Or helping out our fellow man.
Enter Good Society Denim. Launched by Aiden Dinh in late 2007, the line uses only eco-friendly materials made based on fair labor practices, right down the dyes used to get that great dark-wash color.
Dinh also allocates 10 percent of the collection’s profits to charities that do everything from providing the world with clean drinking water to helping former child sex slaves in Cambodia.
This isn’t the first do-good clothing initiative Dinh has undertaken though. Slings and Stones, his original company, did great work to halt the use of harmful pesticides. But Dinh wanted to make a more affordable collection of jeans so that everyone could help save the world.
The denim line of Good Society runs for far less than the $300 price tag on Slings and Stones jeans, and does just as much to benefit humankind. Not to mention every piece is classic and wearable.
“It is a simple jean [customers] can wear now and 10 years from now,” Dinh told Women’s Wear Daily.
Now that’s a (do) good pair of jeans.
