The Alpha of All Alpha Dogs: Great Dane, Giant George

After being named World's Tallest Dog Ever by Guinness World Records, Giant George, a Great Dane who stands 3 feet, 7 inches at the shoulder and reaches more than 7 feet standing on his hind legs, didn't go to Disney to celebrate. He boarded a plane for The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Kevin Smith, listen up. This 245 pound behemoth was given three seats on an American Airlines plane and traveled 1,500 miles with his owner Dave Nasser from Tucson to Chicago. And it's not surprising the canine king needs the leg room (and probably a belt extender). After all, he sleeps on a queen size bed at home — by himself. Nasser claims he has seen lions that are smaller than his dog.

Giant George eats 110 pounds of chow every month, which is nearly half his weight. And according to his owner, he does everything in a big way: eats a lot, sleeps a lot, drools a lot and yes, poops a lot.

Other little known facts about Giant George? He sits in a chair like a human and he has more than 31,000 fans on Facebook.

Giant George assumed the title of World's Tallest Dog Ever after a Guinness judge came out to measure George earlier this month and compare him to rival Titan, another Great Dane from California, who, at 42.25 inches had been named World's Tallest Dog in November. Guinness World Records announced Giant George's coronation as king mutt on Feb. 22, not-so-coincidentally the same day he appeared on Oprah.

But, this top dog hasn't captured every title. As it turns out Guinness World Records is still looking for the following pet records: Longest Ears on a Dog, Smallest Dog (length), Oldest Dog, Smallest Cat and Oldest Cat. Only the longest-eared, smallest, oldest need apply.
