An Eco-geek must have

In my unending quest to provide all of you with the latest and greatest green breakthroughs, I want to share a new gadget that will surely change your power consumption: the Blue Line Powercost Monitor™.

With the monitor, you'll be able to monitor your home's electricity usage real-time, moment to moment. The monitor features an attractive, table-top display unit. At the push of a button it displays, in real-time, your moment-to-moment and total electricity costs in dollars and cents and in kilowatt hours.

The gadget works when you attach a sensor to your power meter.  Information is wirelessly deployed to the monitor inside your home -- as long as you have an unblocked spinning disk on your meter, this should work without any issues. Whether you are looking to save dollars (or the environment), this device will make you think twice about leaving the lamp on in an unused room.

This is something to which I will likely become addicted, so I will have to watch myself around this gadget.  I spend about $50 per month to power all the gadgets in my San Francisco loft.  I am going to get one of these and try to get my bill down to $35 -- and, look forward to seeing fewer kilowatt hours of energy as a result.  That is good for everyone. The monitor costs $139.95 and you can buy it here.
