Betty White Says Yes to Our 'SNL' Dreams

Like much of the world, we at Tonic have spent the past month in the grips of a Betty White fever. While some have been White worshipers from the days of Mary Tyler Moore, others have only recently taken a shine to the ever-hilarious 88-year-old. From a show-stopping performance in The Proposal to a standout Super Bowl ad, this Golden Girl is redefining what it means to be an octogenarian.

The Betty frenzy got serious momentum though, when David Mathews started the Facebook page Betty White to Host SNL (please!)? Not messing around, the 29-year-old fan went straight to the top, appealing to SNL's Lorne Michaels. It seems that a few weeks and 484,809 fans later, our prayers have been answered.  On Saturday night at Elton John's annual Oscar viewing party the silver fox confirmed she had in fact accepted the invitation.

Now all we have to do is anxiously await what SNL writers will whip up to sufficiently showcase the deadpan perfect-timing of this comic genius. And, let's not overlook just how cool this is for our youth-centric society. It's kinda fun to be obsessed with a gal who doesn't have a frenemy, a tramp stamp peaking out from behind a thong, or a baby daddy.
