Billy Corgan: Spiritual Guru?
I'll say this about Billy Corgan's bid to be a spiritual guru, he's got the bald head for it.
It could be that re-launching the Smashing Pumpkins had a spiritual effect on the lone original member or maybe he's just been reading too many Maharishi Mahesh Yogi books, but Corgan recently launched his new spiritual site Everything From Here To There. The singer-songwriter will be writing several of the posts, though he's also taking submissions. He calls it a place where people can "discuss openly and without fear concepts of Mind-Body-Soul integration."
There's more: "In discussing Mind-Body-Soul integration within the context of holistic Truth, many topics will be explored here that may be new to you. Like any good tree that one would hope to grow, we must set our roots deep into the ground so that what is real will prosper in the Light of Love."
I have to wonder if he made this site out of lines he got lucky with in bars.
Last one: "We begin with the undying belief that there is a unifying intelligence that manifests itself in Every-thing."
Every-thing? Billy, I'd love to hear your definition of an "Every." I'm just waiting for him to call us his "little pumpkin seeds."
The site is even funnier because he writes his posts under the name William Patrick Corgan apparently in hopes of being taken more seriously, but I certainly can't fault him for trying to have a spiritual discussion. In the end, he's trying to promote love and spirituality, and even if his rich language makes me think of Chinese fortune cookies, you can never have enough positive voices out there.
Okay, now can I get back to making fun of him?
