Help Develop an Early Interest in Reading
My parents told me that I started reading at age 3, and my late grandmother always got a kick out of the fact that one of my favorite places to go with her as a child was the bookstore. Even with countless diversions available to us, the simple pleasure of curling up with a good book will (I hope) never go away, and it's one that can begin at an early age.
Borders and Waldenbooks want to make sure as many children as possible are offered the opportunity to improve their reading skills and develop a joy of literature. That's why, according to this PR Newswire press release, they've started a book drive at more than 1,000 of their stores across the country. From Aug. 1 through the first week of September, you can buy children's books that will be donated to a charity chosen by the individual store. Or, if you can't find a book that tickles your fancy, you can buy a toy or game to donate.
If you want to find out more about the book drive, get in touch with your local store.
