Cape Town Resort Aptly Named 'One&Only'
The World Cup is coming to South Africa, and Cape Town's ready with a new resort to welcome the soccer gods.
Opened last April, the One&Only Cape Town sits at the foot of Table Mountain before the converging waters of the Indian and Altantic Oceans. If those visuals don't knock you off your feet, step inside this picturesque resort and behold a stunning mash-up of contemporary design and local African décor that blends seamlessly into the native environment.
Nestled flush against the peninsula waters, the One&Only Marina Rise features 91 standard rooms crowned by four magnificent penthouse residences, one of which already set the price record for the most expensive residential property sale in the country's history.
If you can swing it, you'll really get your swagger going in one of the 40 suites situated on the private Villa Island. Connected to the mainland by a bridge, the island features a massive infinity pool, a private spa and a lush green landscape. You also get your own oversized terrace with spectacular water and mountain views.
The Villas are all booked, but if you still want a little island adventure? Stroll across the bridge to its other private isle, Spa Island, for a 13,000 square foot complex that's the largest and most comprehensive in the entire city.
Whether you spend your time in the spa or on safari, you can finish the day at one of the resort's two stylish restaurants, Maze and Nobu. If you love wine, you'll beeline to the tri-level Maze where a central fire grill casts a glorious glow across the 5,000-plus bottles of vino. Nobu, meanwhile, adds a fifth continent to its global reach (only South America and Antartica remain) with translucent origami light fixtures illuminating its world famous Japanese cuisine.
Whether you're looking to hit the World Cup 2010 or just relax on by the waterfront in coastal Africa, the One&Only Cape Town is a staggeringly beautiful addition to South Africa's second most populous city.
