Cartoon 'Oracle of Omaha' Teaches Kids About Money
Financial literacy isn't exactly our educational institutions' strong suit here in the United States (is it anywhere?) Most kids get no instruction on even the most basic money-management skills, not to mention anything as advanced as investing with an eye to becoming a mogul.
Enter A Squared Entertainment LLC and Time Warner Inc.’s AOL, which plan to produce a series of short celebrity-hosted cartoon videos to advise our nation's young investors on how to start out strong, Bloomberg reported today.
At the end of this year or early in 2010, a cartoon version of famous billionaire investor Warren Buffett — the "Oracle of Omaha" — will host a "Secret Millionaire's Club" in a series of videos to show kids how to "have adventures and learn financial lessons," according to the producing companies. Buffett thought up the idea himself.
Martha Stewart and Gisele Bundchen are also signed up to host inventive short cartoons on topics that will teach kids good lessons. A 10-year-old Stewart will be “Little Martha,” an industrial kid who manages an event-planning company out of a “tricked-out treehouse.” Bundchen will host “Gigi & The Green Team,” in which the cartoon beauty will be a “supermodel by day, superhero protector of the environment by night.” Another series will feature late astronomer Carl Sagan.
