Last week, the US raised tariffs on Chinese tires. This week, the Chinese hit back, threatening to tax US imports of automotive products and... chicken.

The tit for tat has some crying trade war. But the NY Times reports that China’s taste for, well, toes has many experts thinking that at least the chicken is safe from import tax.

If you’ve ever had dim sum, you’ll know what a delicacy chicken feet are among the Chinese. “We have these jumbo, juicy paws the Chinese really love,” poultry economist Paul W. Aho told the Times, “so I don’t think they are going to cut us off.”

China's fondness for fowl extends beyond the feet. MSNBC reports that American fried chicken chain KFC is even more popular there than ubiquitous burger giant McDonald’s.
