Chocolate-Covered Peeps Hatch

Choc peepsPeople either love Peeps, the iconic chick-shaped marshmallow treats, or hate them. I count myself among the latter group, and even more so now that I've heard about the most recent addition to the Peep family introduced by the Just Born company: chocolate-covered Peeps.

While I can't think of anything less appealing, many people will surely go ga-ga for the new confections, especially because this means they can get even more creative. Apparently nothing sparks people's creativity like Peeps.

Every year, The Washington Post hosts its Peeps Show contest in which contestants build elaborate dioramas depicting Peeps in all sorts of settings and situations. National Geographic hosted the Peeps in Places Photo Challenge, which showcased Peeps worldwide. Taking a different approach, the blog 100 Ways to Kill a Peep pays violent yet amusing homage to the Peep's storied indestructibility.

The versatile marshmallow treats don't just show up as chicks at Easter, but come in many creative colors and types — rabbits, Halloween ghosts and pumpkins, Christmas snowmen — leading to all sorts of crafty, imaginative projects. Like, illustrating Obama, Marilyn Monroe, or an American flag, for example. Just think of the possibilities now that we have chocolate-covered Peeps. If nothing else, at least there's this: the only other thing you need to make a s'more is a graham cracker.
