Cisco Gives to its High School Network

Cisco and its Cisco Foundation have furthered a commitment to City Year by pledging $4.5 million over the next three years to the Whole School, Whole Child program, which works to help prevent high school dropouts.

City Year is a nonprofit organization founded in 1988 in Boston. Volunteers aged 17 to 24 dedicate 10 months to serve as tutors, mentors and role models in 18 United States locations and Johannesburg, South Africa. The Whole School, Whole Child program is a strategy to help students succeed in schools, targeting those who are at risk of dropping out. Its three main components are academic support, positive school climate and after-school programming.

The $4.5 million will include up to $1.5 million in cash to help the Whole School, Whole Child program, and up to $3 million in Cisco products and services to help City Year better scale the program across the US. Cisco has been helping City Year since 1993 and, including this year's promise, has now provided more than $12 million in support.
