Just One Click: Small Things Challenge
Now, here's something easy that you can do to boost primary school education and alleviate global poverty, with just a click of your mouse! Intel, Kiva and Save the Children have launched "The Small Things Challenge Campaign" to help fund everything from school supplies for an Indonesian child to providing a micro-loan to a Cambodian fisherman to buy nets. All you need to do is visit the campaign's web site and click the "We'll donate..." button. Intel will then send a nickel to participating organizations for your action.
According to the United Nations, 75 million children throughout the developing world do not attend primary school and 80 percent of our global population live on less than $10 per day. Another fact: Did you know you click a mouse between 5,000 to 10,000 times per day? So, donating one click to this challenge should be easy! Just one click...
Celebrities including Counting Crows' Adam Duritz and Maroon 5's Adam Levine have stepped up to help support and promote this year-long initiative (see video above) that also includes an online auction of autographed guitars and laptops from these musicians as well as the ability to make a direct donation to the effort. As a result of your generosity, Save the Children will provide funds for education and Kiva will provide micro-loans to small business development. It's all a great and easy way to make a difference.
