Clicker Goes Live
Let's face it, there's a ton of video content on the Web. Finding exactly what you want to watch can be a challenge, what with so many different sources out there. Adding to the challenge is finding actual quality video, along with having to take your chances clicking on a link that may or may not lead you to the video you want. That's where Clicker comes in.
The site that went live to the public today "combines elements of a search engine, a social network and a wiki," according to TechNewsWorld. Focusing on broadcast-quality, full-length and, yes, legal video, you can find content from more than 1,200 sources. That includes selections such as the movie Ghostbusters, the V pilot episode, a webisode of The Guild or Feist's "1234" music video, among many others.
In fact, there are close to half a million episodes (TV and Web originals) listed, along with tens of thousands of films and 50,000 music videos, all of which are searchable. A nice option is being able to search within a particular show, so if you want to find the episode when, say, Bill Murray guest-starred on Square Pegs, you can (it was the "No Substitutions" episode in 1983, by the way).
Clicker also has a Facebook Connect option and lets people share content across Twitter and Digg. And, according to the TechNewsWorld article, an iPhone version is in the works.
