Company Helping Companies Help Others
Let's say you coordinate the employee volunteer program for your company. You took the job six months ago because the CEO wanted to get the employees more involved in their community, both because she wanted the company to give back and to improve its reputation in the industry. The problem is you work for a large organization that has no program in place. You're trying to learn on the fly while the CEO wants weekly status reports. What to do?
As it turns out, there's a company that can help, and it's called AngelPoints. The Sausalito, Calif.-based group has been helping companies "manage and measure their community involvement initiatives" since 2001. They offer products and services for both employee volunteer and corporate social responsibility programs. The products include volunteer management tools and a rewards program for top volunteers. Their list of clients includes Toyota, MillerCoors, Sprint and Hilton Hotels.
Every company should do what it can to be socially responsible and give back to the community, but there's a difference between giving the old college try and having a truly impactful program. Anything that can help you and your company do the latter is worth investigating.
