Frustrated With Your Parents? Sell 'em on Craigslist!

Not really into your parents? Perhaps you can trade them in for a new pair... on Craigslist!

Connecticut resident Michael Amatrudo did just that this past Saturday. His ad read: "Perfectly good parents -- $155. Got lots of use out of these guys over the past 50 years but it's time to move on. Excellent overall condition. Still plenty of life left in them... "

He went on to say that instead of money he would also accept a barter for a younger set of parents, an Erector set or a hot blond. Amatrudo, who admitted he really doesn’t want to trade in his parents, told FOX 61 in Connecticut that he got the idea for the ad after surfing the listings on Craigslist and becoming intrigued by all the unusual items for sale (although not so unusual as one’s own parents).

"It was kind of a study on the human condition, informally. It really was a fluke that I did and then it took on a crazy life of its own," Amatrudo told FOX 61.

Once the ad was posted, Amatrudo said responses poured in from around the country, mostly from people who got the joke and asked tongue-in-cheek questions like how they would be shipped.

Of course, all of this begs a serious question: what did Amatrudo’s parents think of his little experiment? Luckily for him, no offense taken.

"I wasn’t shocked," said his mother, Arlene Amatrudo. "All my kids have had a sense of humor. We loved it!"
