Friday at last! It's funny no matter where you are or what you do, Friday always holds a special place for people around the world. Many of us don't event get full weekends off, but there is something in the mood — relief, happiness, excitement and plans — that all seem to roll into one and make most people have an energy not found on other days of the week.

Last night in New York City was the The American Friends of Jamaica Annual Gala, which raises money for Jamaican charitable and social initiatives and also honours great people from that country. Last year, one of the members of our Board of Creators at Tonic, Chris Blackwell, was honoured and this year's event was a great success with money raised for many Jamaican initiatives.

I only mention this as I was browsing through Amazon earlier today and noticed that the legendary Grace Jones has a new album coming out in the next few weeks — in fact, next week, in the U.K. Chris Blackwell initially signed Grace Jones and helped her release all those classics like "Pull Up To The Bumper," "Night Clubbing" and "Slave To The Rhythm."

It has been 20 years since the diva from Jamaica released a record, and by all accounts this new album is another great one.

The album, Hurricane, has received terrific pre-release reviews with a usual mix of '80s nightclub funk, hip-hop and a lot of soul. Collaborators and writers on the record include Brian Eno, Tricky, and Sly & Robbie, Wendy and Lisa.
