Cube-side Cursing
Go ahead and blast your boss! But only in Spain. The Associated Press reports that fed up Spanish workers can use foul-mouthed language in arguments with their bosses.
Last year, a worker in Gerona, a city in the northeast of the country, was fired for calling his boss a "son of a b----." He brought the case to court and lost. But on appeal, a superior court judge ruled that while the phrase was insulting, it was also commonly used in many contexts – including arguments. The judge said the employee must be reinstated or given $9,500.
In US offices, cursing at your boss, or coworkers for that matter, where political-correctness is more highly-prized, might not be such a good idea, reports MSNBC. But there are some instances – like if you’re working in a kitchen or on the trading floor – where it might actually endear you to colleagues.
The takeaway: Will throwing an F-bomb into your office get you in trouble? Not if they're Spanish bombs.
