Treat Yourself to a Healthy Job Search
It's almost that time of year again. The flu season is approaching, and for many of us, that means a flu shot. For the past few years, I always got my flu shot through my employer, meaning the shot came to me. Now that I'm freelancing, I need to seek one out. Those people who are unemployed are in the same boat, and with money tight, some of them might overlook getting one, not weighing it as necessary as buying food or paying rent or the mortgage.
In fact, according to this CVS Caremark press release, a recent company health study revealed "those who are unemployed, seeking employment are among the least likely to get a flu shot, with only 34% reporting they received a flu shot, compared to 49% of respondents overall." So, in an effort to make sure that as many Americans as possible are healthy this flu season, the company announced they will provide 100,000 free flu shots to those who are unemployed.
Included in the program are on-site flu clinics at One-Stop Career Center locations, which offer assistance to those looking for work. At the flu clinics, those who are unemployed can get vouchers for free flu shots. The shots will take place at CVS/pharmacy or MinuteClinic locations.
So not only can you get assistance with your job search, but you can also give yourself a much better chance of staying healthy during that search. Go here to find a One-Stop Career Center near you.
