Is "Tron Legacy" Getting Punk'd?
Daft Punk are already scoring the upcoming "Tron Legacy," but according to the film's Olivia Wilde, the electro wizards of the band might also make a cameo.
As reported by MTV, the girl-kissing "O.C." star said, "They were in the movie." What exactly that means -- and whether they'll be in spacesuits or in living flesh -- is another story, but it appears the duo at least filmed some kind of scene.
"Tron Legacy" is the sequel to the 1982 cult film based on the popular video game. The original "Tron," featuring Jeff Bridges, was considered a relative flop back in the early Gipper years, but it has since achieved cult status as an underground sci-fi hit. Bridges will reprise his role in the sequel, while Garrett Hedlund ("Four Brothers") will play his adult son.
As far as the score, Daft Punk follows in impressive footsteps. Wendy Carlos, best known for scoring such classics as "A Clockwork Orange" and "The Shining," crafted the music for the original "Tron."
The Disney-backed sequel is set to hit theaters on Dec. 17 of next year, going head-to-head with Warner's "Yogi Bear" film.
