Dave Stewart Rocks for Fulfillment
Strike up the band!
That's exactly what Dave Stewart is doing on Tuesday when he descends upon the Conga Room at LA Live with his Rock Fabulous Orchestra. Called the DREAM 2009 concert, the Eurythmics founder will be rockin' to benefit the Fulfillment Fund, which has helped educationally disadvantaged LA students get into college for over three decades now. The Fund generally focuses on students from low-income households.
The band will perform all the songs Stewart made famous with the Eurythmics ("Sweet Dreams," "Here Comes the Rain Again," etc.) in addition to tracks he wrote, produced and/or collaborated on for stars like Tom Petty, Mick Jagger, No Doubt, Jon Bon Jovi, Bob Dylan, Bono, Celine Dion, Sinead O'Connor and Bryan Ferry, among others. His work has helped contributed to over 100 million albums sold during his career. And we can of course pray that Stewart will actually try to sing the Celine Dion songs he helped craft.
A limited number of seats are available, and they range in price from $50 to $200. The show starts at 8 p.m. To purchase tickets, please call (323) 900-8789 or E-mail dream2009@fulfillment.org.
Earlier this summer, Tonic wrote about Stewart performing at the Nelson Mandela Concert at Madison Square Garden and all his work with the former South African president to help combat AIDS.
