Rock 'N' Block Dive for Charity
You think you're a rock 'n' roll rebel? So do ya, punk? Then put your money where your mouth is and let a night of rock music amp you up for a day of skydiving.
Did I lose you at skydiving?
Come on, it's on the list. I bet you've talked about getting a scuba license and hiking some mountain AND going skydiving. Well, now you can scratch one of those off the list and raise money for charity, too.
Here's the scoop, Johnny Utah. Operation Swan Dive takes place Aug. 15 and 16 at the SkyDive Pepperell in Massachusetts. There will be dives on both days, but Saturday night features a booze and barbecue party headlined by Sister Hazel singer-guitarist Ken Block ("All For You," "Happy," "Change Your Mind," etc.). The proceeds benefit Lyrics for Life, a children's cancer charity, as well as the New England-based charities Camp Sunshine and Jaiden's Angel.
"We’re excited be participating in Operation Swan Dive once again this year,” said Lyrics for Life Executive Director Cynthia Cochrane in a statement. "The event organizers do an amazing job convincing people to jump out of an airplane and we're hoping that those who want to keep their feet on the ground will come out in support of both the jumpers and the cause at our Saturday night barbecue and concert (no jumping required!)." The Sister Hazel singer founded the Lyrics for Life charity several years ago in honor of his younger brother Jeffrey, who lost a four-year cancer battle as a teenager. In the past two years, the Operation Swan Dive events raised over $110,000 combined.
